Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Living God, our Lord and Savior. He is fully God and fully man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where He is our High Priest and Advocate.
The word Trinity though not mentioned in scripture is expressed in both the Old and New Testaments (Genesis 1:26; John 1:1-3; Matthew 28:19). There are three persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), but one substance. There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existent.
The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus Christ, convict people of sin; regenerate the believing sinner; and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.
The Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired Word of God and is without error in it's original writings. It is a record of God's actions in history, complete revelation of God's will for all persons, and is the final authority for all Christian faith and life.
That everyone has sinned and are in need of forgiveness. This sinful condition separates them from God and condemns them to an eternal judgment. The only means of salvation, so that a person might be forgiven, comes by God's act of grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
That the Church is instructed to celebrate two ordinances: Baptism of believers by immersion, as a symbol of their death and resurrection into a new life with Jesus Christ. Lord's Supper in remembrance of Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross for our sins and our covenantal relationship with God.
All Christians, laity and clergy, are empowered by the Holy Spirit, called together as a spiritual family for worship, learning, encouragement, and service. We are called into a special relationship with God, so that we might be used by God as witnesses in the world. |
